People’s Choice Lighting and Decorating Contest Winners Announced

Babe’s Flowers is the first-place winner in the 2022Sheridan Christmas Stroll People’s Choice Lighting & Decorating Contest,held by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with SheridanMedia. Babe’s is located at 23 N. Main St. in Sheridan.

WYLD Adventures, located at 35 N. Main St. in Sheridan, tooksecond place.

“Congratulations to the winners of this year’s contest, andthank you to all of the businesses who participated as well as those whovoted.” said Chamber CEO Dixie Johnson. “This is the second year we’vepartnered with Sheridan Media to host the contest as a people’s choice, and ourbusinesses went all out in making Sheridan festive for the holidays with the‘Snow Globe Christmas’ theme. We appreciate all of their work and encourage thecommunity to take the time to visit the businesses and enjoy their festivedecorations.”

Sheridan Media hosted the contest on their website, and thecommunity could log on and vote once per day. Voting opened on Tuesday, Nov.29, and continued through Dec. 11.

Babe’s received $100 in Chamber Bucks, a blue ribbon and acertificate. WYLD Adventures received $50 in Chamber Bucks, a red ribbon and acertificate.

Schedule for Legislative Forum Announced

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee will host its annual Legislative Forum in Sheridan starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Sheridan City Council Chambers at City Hall, 55 Grinnell Plaza.

The Legislative Forum provides an opportunity for businesses, organizations and individuals to bring topics before a panel of local state legislators prior to the next session of the Wyoming State legislature.

Chamber to Host Legislative Forum Nov. 29

The Sheridan County Chamberof Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee will host its annual LegislativeForum in Sheridan starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Sheridan City CouncilChambers at City Hall, 55 Grinnell Plaza.

The Legislative Forum providesan opportunity for businesses, organizations and individuals to bring topicsbefore a panel of local state legislators prior to the next session of theWyoming State legislature.

The Chamber is nowscheduling the presentation times for this forum, and they fill quickly. Alimited number of 15-minute time slots are available, which include 10 minutesto address legislators and five minutes for questions and answers. Presentationmaterials (handouts, fact sheets, etc.) will need to be submitted to the Chamberby Friday, Nov. 18, and will be provided by the Chamber to the legislatorsprior to the forum. Due to time constraints that day, Powerpoint or othercomputer-based presentations will not be allowed.

A schedule of presentationswill be announced prior to the event. The forum is open to the public.

Alexis Evans Named Winner of 2022 Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest

The winning design for the 27th AnnualSheridan Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest was unveiled Tuesday, Oct. 25,2022, during a special presentation by Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger and SheridanCounty Chamber of Commerce CEO Dixie Johnson at City Hall.

Alexis Evans, currently a seventh-gradestudent at Sheridan Junior High and daughter of Travis and Jennifer Evans,created the winning design. Sheridan County students in Grades 1 through 6 wereinvited in the spring to submit designs to the Sheridan County Chamber’sChristmas Stroll Committee for the Stroll Button Design Contest. The committeeselected the winning design based upon how well it reflects this year’s theme,“Snow Globe Christmas.”

Alexis received a framed copy of herbutton design, the first button and $100 in Chamber Bucks.

Stroll buttons each have a uniquenumber and are purchased by the public, who begin wearing them at the ChristmasStroll. While shopping locally during Christmas Stroll and through ChristmasEve, button wearers look in participating businesses for the number thatmatches their Stroll Button. Those with matching numbers win a prize from the businessvalued at $50 or more.

Stroll button purchasers areencouraged to continue wearing their Stroll buttons on Stroll Day and throughoutthe holiday shopping season for the Chamber’s “Get Caught Shopping” campaign.If caught shopping locally in participating businesses by Chamber elves whilewearing their Stroll button, they can win Chamber Bucks in amounts from $25 to$200.

Stroll buttons will be available forpurchase by the public the first week of November at the Sheridan CountyChamber of Commerce, 54 S. Main St., and at participating businesses. Costremains $5 each.

This year’s Christmas Stroll will beheld from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Stroll button holders can beginchecking for matching button numbers that morning. Main Street and GrinnellPlaza will be closed from 4 to 8 p.m. for hay wagon rides, giveaways and more.Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting with children and available for photos atthe WYO Theater.
