Whether you’re a fan of shojo or shonen, the anime world offers a variety of titles to keep audiences engaged, though many shows have crossed one line or another. Among them stands Boku no Pico, which is basically a yaoi shotacon hentai anime—if you don’t know what these words mean, you’re better off not knowing.
For the last decade, this 3 episode anime series has traumatized many viewers; not to mention, there’s always at least one prankster who will pop in and suggest the series, claiming it’s a “masterpiece.” You need to be a very specific kind of person, and quite far down the rabbit hole, to enjoy Boku no Pico.
Jokes aside, Boku no Pico is one of the most infamous shotacon anime out there, and it’s undeniably disturbing. The series follows young protagonists who face gross sexualization, leading to widespread criticism for promoting pedophilic content. Amid the infamy of Boku no Pico, there’s one anime even more disturbing and horrifying, surpassing it in every unsettling way.
The Anime That Goes Beyond Boku no Pico in Dark and Unsettling Content
The only anime more controversial and widely discussed than Boku no Pico, to a deeply concerning extent, is Redo of Healer. It’s controversial, but Redo of Healer certainly has its fans. If you know very little about the series, its premise is intriguing and likely to draw you in.
In a world of monsters, adventurers, and magic, some of the most gifted healers are subjugated by brute force. Keyaru gains the ability to rewind time and turn the tables on those who’ve exploited him in this dark fantasy tale of vengeance and fury.
The first 2 episodes are highly controversial, enough to potentially get the anime canceled. The 12-episode series made big waves in 2021 due to its graphic content but established a fairly large fanbase in doing so.

Despite its massive fanbase and praise for an intriguing storyline, the censored version still features many disturbing scenes that could leave viewers questioning their sanity. In the end, just the phrase “This Rod or Mine” is enough to remind any viewer how truly disturbing Redo of Healer is.
Redo of Healer stands alongside Boku no Pico as one of the most disturbing anime ever made; however, some might argue it’s at least a step above outright glorifying child exploitation and abuse. To make matters even worse, Pico looks and acts way younger than 15; it’s almost as if the creators were trying to make a show that could be marketed to predators.
Crunchyroll Files Over 45 Million URL Takedown Requests To Combat Piracy
Crunchyroll and Funimation, two of the world’s leading anime streaming services, have filed more than 45 million URL takedown requests in a strong push to combat piracy. The exact number as of December 6, 2023, was 10,138,526,722.
Though Crunchyroll has officially filed over eight million copyright claims, the company itself is believed to have reported only a little over 7,000 of them. Interestingly, Remove Your Media LLC (RYM) is believed to have acted frequently onCrunchyroll’s behalfin its fight against pirate websites.
