Re “Boston’s woke mayor says ‘low-level’ criminals should not be prosecuted” (Denette Wilford, May 30): As a concerned citizen, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s recent policies and actions. Her soft-on-crime approach, which includes abolishing the gang registry and declining to prosecute certain crimes, puts our community’s safety at risk. Furthermore, her push to demilitarize law enforcement and limit their use-of-force options hinders their ability to effectively protect us. The decision to make police personnel files related to use-of-force publicly accessible also compromises officer safety. Additionally, Wu’s administration has faced accusations of excluding white people from certain initiatives and events, which raises concerns about inclusivity and equality. As a city, we should strive for unity and fairness, not division and exclusion. I urge Wu to reconsider her policies and prioritize the well-being and safety of all Boston residents.

Ronald Beaty West Barnstable, Ma.

(This growing trend not to prosecute is problematic for community safety. What may seem expeditious not to clog the court system with “low-level” crime, will lead to bigger problems. Bad move by the mayor)

CEASE FIRE BAD FOR ISRAEL

Joe Biden’s ceasefire plan to end the conflict in the Middle East is not good for Israel. Hamas is like a weed. If it is not fully destroyed, the root will continue to grow. Let us not forget a ceasefire was in place Oct. 7 and Hamas chose to ignore it. What is to say they won’t ignore it again? While the killing of innocent Palestinians is abhorrent, Israel must stay the course until all Hamas terrorists are eliminated.

Jane Gilbert Ajax

(Biden is pushing this for his own political purposes. This is not good for Israel)

HOLLAND UNHINGED

Re “Health minister off the rails with road trip rant” (Brian Lilley, June 1): Just wondering how all the newcomers who have been granted free admission by the Liberals to our national parks will get to them — bikes, rollerblades, skateboards? Mark Holland appeared to be totally unhinged during his rant about road trips destroying the planet.

Vivienne Edwards Peterborough

(We can only conclude Mark Holland was looking to get some attention with his bizarre rant.
