Known for its barbecue scene, few places are as unique as the city of Austin, Texas. In fact the city’s motto is “Keep Austin Weird!” lt’s an amazing spot for a family vacation.
If you’re planning on taking the whole family, then that will undoubtedly include the dog! Here’s the good news: there are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants in Austin, and I’ve browsed through them to find the best ones around.
Buckle up and get ready for another mouth-watering tour of dog-friendly restaurants!
1. Kerbey Lane Café

The first stop on our tour of tail-wagging dog-friendly restaurants in Austin, Texas is Kerbey Lane Café. Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, this quaint spot is perfect for a quick bite or a full meal.
There’s plenty of nearby parking at Kerbey Lane Café, and dogs are welcome to dine on the outdoor patio. Before you go, be sure to check the weather! Their patio is not covered.

If you’re in the mood for some tacos and grilled cuisine, then consider taking a walk to Cedar Door! Despite its downtown location, Cedar Door is conveniently located across from a parking deck. A generous semi-covered outdoor patio is open for canine companions, and reviewers have noted that water will be provided to help your pup beat the heat!

Another great spot to taste some of Austin’s famous barbecue is Terry Black’s BBQ. Beloved by both locals and tourists, this restaurant offers a pup-friendly outdoor patio for its four-legged patrons.
The menu is primarily meat, so vegetarians may want to look elsewhere. Nonetheless, they offer a few different salads, and reviewers love the complimentary water bowls.

More discerning pups will enjoy the laid-back but elegant atmosphere of Perla’s. In addition to a wide range of specialty co*cktails, this spot offers plenty of seafood. If you’re from the east coast and happen to be feeling homesick, then your pup can join you at Perla’s outdoor patio to grab a bite of home!
Some reviewers have noted the friendliness of the waitstaff. In addition to water bowls, pups are doted upon and often provided treats.

Another spot on our tour of dog-friendly restaurants in Austin, Texas is Ski Shores Waterfront Café. Perched on the shore of Lake Austin, this gorgeous spot offers plenty of grilled cuisine and seafood. Pups are welcome to dine on the outdoor patio.
If you’re planning on visiting Ski Shores, be sure to keep an eye out for the location! It’s hidden off of the main road, behind Ski Shores Marina. There’s plenty of parking available, though, so your main concern will be spotting it from the main road.

For another lunch-to-dinner spot, try Bouldin Creek Café. This vegan-friendly dive features a spacious covered patio for pups. Servers will provide dogs with a complimentary water bowl, and diners can enjoy plenty of amazing vegan dishes.
Prospective visitors should know that parking is an issue for Bouldin Creek Café. There is a very small parking lot out front, but much of the parking will be streetside.
7. Yard Bar

A truly unique dining experience awaits you at Yard Bar, a dog-friendly restaurant in Austin, Texas that comes with its own off-leash dog park!
While dog owners will likely prefer to dine outdoors with their pups, there is indoor seating available. The dog park is fenced in, and all neutered pups are welcome to romp!
8. Bouldin Acres

With a massive outdoor patio, Bouldin Acres is the perfect place for dog lovers! At this trendy beer garden, patrons can enjoy a drink while their canines relax alongside them.
With all of the space available, there’s no feeling cramped at Bouldin Acres. Everyone has plenty of room to enjoy themselves, and patrons are welcome to sample what’s on tap. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s open for brunch, lunch, and dinner Tuesdays through Sundays.
9. The Little Darlin’

Last but not least on our list of dog-friendly restaurants in Austin, Texas is The Little Darlin’. This restaurant is a bit closer to a bar, and all food orders must be placed at the bar. The kitchen offers plenty of delicious Americana food, and pups are welcome to dine on the outdoor patio.
There’s plenty of parking available at The Little Darlin’, but diners should keep their eyes peeled. It’s located on a narrow road, and its low profile is easy to miss if you’re not paying much attention to your surroundings!
